Breaf introduction to the Roman world: history, protagonists, society and economic activities and archeology.

The Ara Pacis Augustae, the altar commissioned by the Roman Senate on July 4, 13 BC to honor the return of Augustus to Rome, is not only -artistically speaking- one of the symbol of the Augustan age but reflects the values and spread the message of a new Golden Age possible thanks to Augustus. The monument simbolized also the use of the art to spread and promote messages to the Roman People: peace, traditions and ancient myths, peace and prosperity, leadership and succession to the power.
