In the Heart of the Eternal City: the Roman Forum and the Imperial Fora

This charming tour will offer the opportunity to discover the center of Ancient Rome, the Roman Forum and part of the impressive Imperial Fora, created between the second half of the 1st century BC. and the beginning of the 2nd century AD.

The itinerary will start, walking along la Via Sacra, the Holy Street, in the Roman Forum the oldest rectangular square with the buildings for political, religious and commercial activities: the old Regia (the residence of the Kings), Complex of the Vestal Virgins, the Curia (the Senate House), the Tabularium (the State Archive). The forum was surrounded by temples, triumphal arches and basilicas erected from Republic to Empire to celebrate the Roman emperors.

Then the tour will pass into the Forum of Julius Cesar, the first of the Imperial Fora, erected in 46 BC nearby the Roman Forum to increase the space for public business: in the middle of the colonnade the statue of the divine Cesar and the Temple of Venus Genetrix. Finally the tour will arrive at the Forumof Trajan, the last and biggest monumental square, built by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus, composed with the Basilica Ulpia, two libraries, the Column and the impressive Markets.
